BIO
Rachita Dhakal is a photographer and a photo retoucher based in Las Vegas, NV. She was born and raised in Nepal. At the age of 14, she immigrated to the United States with her family. Dhakal graduated with a BA in Film Studies from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2021. While in college, she worked as a part of a camera department in a documentary called “the Windsor Park: the Sinking Street,” which won two Pacific Southwest Student Emmy Awards for Editing and Producing in 2022. The documentary focuses on a neighborhood in Las Vegas that was built over geological faults in the 1960s, which in later years resulted in broken gas and water pipelines under people’s homes. After graduation, she started working for the Vegas Weddings Chapel as a photo retoucher.
In 2023, Dhakal enrolled in a year-long certificate program in Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism from the International Center of Photography (ICP) based in New York. During her time at ICP, she worked in a documentary photo project “Love in Neon,” focusing on the business of micro weddings in Las Vegas.
